‘Fiber cut’ causes Windstream network outage for Florida, Georgia customers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Windstream Communications, a phone service, broadband internet and TV service, went down Wednesday, according to Down Detector. The interruption was due to a “fiber cut,” Go Kinetic Home said.

News4JAX found that from 8 am to 10 am, thousands of customers complained their internet was down and no employees could be reached via phone or through its website.

“Internet down in Adel (Georgia),” one customer wrote.

“Down in Interlachen FL since about 8:30 1/18/23. Can’t get through on phone or chat. So frustrating. Oddly enough the website is still up, touting how reliable they are. ;-)” another customer wrote.

“If you look at the map it looks like a good part of the Eastern United States is down,” another wrote.

Go Kinetic Home posted an update on Twitter acknowledging the problem. Here is the response:

One person tagged News4JAX in a post saying they finally received a reply from the company. See the reply below.

News4JAX is digging deeper into the problem and when customers can expect services to be restored. We reached out to Windstream via email and could not find any way to contact them via social media. We are waiting to hear back. When we attempted to call the help desk number at 1(800) 347-1991 and 1-(855)-833-3102 around 10:15 am we received a busy dial tone and dead air.

We will continue to update this article as new information becomes available.
